Today I am going to elaborate on a book that I just read recently. It´s name is "The Populist Eplosion - How the great Recession Transformed American and European Politics". This very analytical, small, yellow book was written by John B. Judis, an American author and journalist from Chicago. It was published just in the last year in October, which is very important, talking about the big Issue of Populism. In his book, Judis doesn't just focus on the topic of right-wing populism, but also deals with populism from the left and its origin. He started with American history and the history of American Populism, just after defining what is actually meant by the term. It is surprising that we use it so frequently and for almost everything that we don't want to accept, but can't precisely define what it actually means. Europa - Zuhause der vielen Menschen! Eine Rezension zu Heribert Prantls - Trotz alledem! - Europa muss man einfach lieben.
Als ich in unseren örtlichen Buchladen ging, hatte ich keinen bestimmten Titel vor Augen. Es sollte irgendwas politisches sein. Irgendwas zu einem Thema was mich interessiert. Am besten zum Thema internationaler Politik! Unscheinbar, aber dennoch stechend auffällig - Ich stieß also auf ein sehr dünnes, blau umschlagenes Buch mit Sternmusterung auf der Vorderseite. Der Titel, wie ich nach genauerer Nachforschung herausfand war: "Trotz alledem! - Europa muss man einfach lieben!", geschrieben von Heribert Prantl, seines Zeichens Jurist und Chefredakteur der Süddeutschen Zeitung. Nachdem ich das Buch nun in der Hand hielt, stellten sich viele Fragen. Wofür steht dieses Trotz alledem? Sozialistisches Europa - eine schöne Idee, wenn ich mal so darüber nachdenke! Was will uns der Autor sagen? Wieso muss man Europa einfach lieben, mit all seinen Macken? Insbesondere der sehr angenehme Preis (In der Suhrkamp-Version nur 5,95€ im Einzelhandel) ermutigte mich letzten Endes dazu, das B
